Develop children’s imagination and creative skills as they develop their new outdoor space
We plan to do this by:
- Letting the children choose the name for their new play area.
- The children will draw and write down their ideas for what they would like in their play area.
- Staff will contact different companies to gather a selection of free recyclable materials that can be used in the area.
- Staff, children and volunteers will start to build some of their ideas from their plans.
- Children from Drumchapel High School will also be supporting us with this project.
- We will display photos of the progress that we are making.
- Please do not hesitate to let us know if you would like to be involved in helping out with this project.
Develop children’s ability to recognise and manage their emotions.
We plan to do this by:
- The Lead Practitioner of Attainment and the Team Leader will begin teaching the lessons from The Think Equal Programme to the 3-5 children in January 2025, whereby the children will learn more about the different types of emotions and the feelings associated with these.
- The children will learn more about their rights that form part of The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) as well as the language used within Getting it Right for Every Child and what it means for them.
- We aim to do this through:
- The UNCRC and GIRFEC Champions of Learning will attend training in November 2024 to update their knowledge and skills on how to effectively deliver the information on both topics to our children.
- We will purchase new books for the children on feelings and Children’s Rights.
Progress in communication, early language & mathematics in the outdoors.
We plan to do this by:
- Creating a home learning sheet to gather evidence of children’s skills.
- Starting the Play Along Maths Home Learning Programme with the pre-school children in October 2024.
- Discussing children’s progress to date at the parent/carers evening in November 2024.
- Developing children’s awareness of numbers and letters in their environments, through looking at environmental print in shops, looking at the numbers and letters on car registration plates, looking at the numbers on people’s houses as well as street names…….
- Asking all of our children to complete an application for a library card at enrolment.
- Learning about the different coins and notes as the children collect the toy fund on a weekly basis.
- Learning a few words from a new language every month.
