Grounds for Learning is the Scottish programme of the UK charity – Learning through Landscapes which supports outdoor learning and play for children.  The project is about enriching the lives of Scotland’s children by helping them to:

·         connect with nature

·         be more active

·         learn outdoors

·         develop social skills

·         have fun

Two staff at Drumchapel Early Years Centre – Margaret and Lorna have been trained by the Grounds for Learning team to deliver the programme here for our young children.  Margaret and Lorna work with small groups of parents/carers and their children for six to eight week blocks introducing them to a variety of practical outdoor activities that are fun and cost nothing. 

During the project those that take part will learn new skills, become more active giving them a feeling of wellbeing as well as hopefully developing new friendships.

Margaret is starting a new Grounds for Learning session this September and anyone attending the nursery is able to join so please speak to any member of staff if you are interested.

We provide suitable outdoor clothing for all those taking part.
